Life really is infuriating sometimes! You’re
happy in your work, laying your new floor and then the unforeseen
happens, the insurmountable one, the one problem you never
gave a thought, how do I carry on without some good, knowledgeable
advice.
At Carpenters of York, we know the feeling! It’s happened to our
own skilled joiners, some having many years of experience – how
did I get into this problem?

First, it
is essential to realize where the problem came from, or put another
way, did I make this problem myself, possibly by making a wrong
start or not checking the room details beforehand, and possibly
not having fully understood the main principles, do’s and
don’ts, to the fitting of laminate and hardwood flooring,
before making the first cut.
Second, the problem may
well be overcome easily, with the purchase of a ‘special’ tool,
one made for the job and the solving of your particular
problem. Are you fully briefed with the tools available
and where to obtain them?
Third, we must not forget,
that the laying of a new floor, regardless how small or large
the project, is a joinery exercise, and therefore requires
certain skills, which have to be attained, or practised, before
embarking on the full project.
